AC Porath recognizes the key role of carriers, freight forwarders and dispatchers in the international supply chain. We specialize in managing transit traffic throughout the Customs Union and beyond. Separate divisions of the agency deal with customs clearance of sensitive, high-value and oversized goods, cargo streams to and from Ukraine and shipments to and from the UK. It is worth noting that road transport still accounts for around 70% of transit traffic to and from the UK.
The speed of transport fulfilment, minimizing the necessary downtime for customs inspection and transit or release of the vehicle for the procedure, depends on efficient customs handling of the vehicle. In each of the countries where we serve carriers, we implement transit traffic solutions that generate the greatest added value for carriers and their customers. We work on a 24/7 on-call basis and support our customers with customs handling during this time, aligned, of course, with the operational schedules of particular Customs Offices.
Awareness of the importance of transit procedures for shipments of non-EU and EU goods allows us to implement European solutions in this area. Once the border is crossed, the driver should notify the customs agency handling the transit to review whether all procedures have been properly completed. As a rule of thumb, it can be expected that if the carrier is travelling with goods from a port, the goods may have non-EU status, and a transit declaration is required. If the place of receipt of the goods is a terminal/warehouse inside a so-called inland country, then the driver will need a transit customs declaration, because the goods may be in a customs warehouse or an MCS, i.e. a temporary storage warehouse. Knowledge of these procedures will speed up the transportation of goods to their destination. As a customs agency, we handle all types of goods and calculate the amount of customs duties and taxes owed. For our regular customers, we are able to secure practically any customs debt.
Our customs process support department also handles challenging and exceptional issues. Are your goods stuck at the Customs Office and you do not know what to do next? Have you received a letter requesting clarification from another EU Customs Office or a neighboring country regarding the movement of vehicles in transit? We provide comprehensive management the customs process for both import and export goods.
In turn, our training department offers dedicated courses for dispatchers and freight forwarders, tailored to customs regulations and their application in practice. We demonstrate techniques and tools to be used on a daily basis when conducting shipments with countries in transit that are not members of the European Union. The knowledge we provide is directly applicable to their work and communication with customers.
